I hope you are well and have had a wonderful summer. I am grateful for the time I was able to spend with family and friends, and for the opportunity to reflect, renew, and refocus myself for the journey ahead.
As always, transitions continue to happen within our community and among those we love. Over these past few weeks, there have been losses, sickness, and death, as well as births, weddings, and moments of great joy; some of which have been up close and personal while others were experienced from a distance, yet still deeply felt.
It occurs to me that there has never been a better time for us to be the Church – loving one another, serving our neighbors, and embodying God’s beautiful tapestry of a diverse family in which all are welcome without distinction.
I am looking forward to mounting the pulpit again this Sunday and seeing as many of our members and friends as possible. The following Sunday, September 9th, we will bless our children, students, and educators as they head back to school for another year, praying for their safety and well-being in mind, body, and spirit, and their openness to fresh learnings and new experiences. On Saturday, September 22nd, we will hold the 6th annual Homecoming Fundraising Gala, which I hope you will attend and support as you are able; and the following day on Homecoming Sunday, our District Superintendent, the Reverend Dr. Denise Smartt Sears will be the guest preacher.
There is much more ahead, far more than any of us can accomplish alone, but together we can do all things through Christ who gives us strength. I am inspired by all the possibilities and hope you are too.
Grace and peace,
P.S. Looking forward, you can expect to receive Life & Faith in your Inbox first thing Friday mornings!
