I hope you are well and taking good care.
I am excited to be back in New York City and at PAUMC! My sabbatical was transformative, and I remain grateful for the support of our congregation and staff, as well as the Lilly Endowment for the opportunity to step away, rest, and renew in preparation for the work ahead.
Like me, I am sure you were saddened to hear of the passing of Ingrid Edmeade and Anna Delson, both of whom served the church faithfully and will be sorely missed. Please continue to hold their families in your prayers, and we will update you on the service for Anna as soon as that information is available.
This Sunday, we will be offering special prayers and blessings for students, teachers, and administrators returning to school, those who lost their lives on 9/11, and our brothers and sisters devastated by recent natural disasters, etc.
Please be on the lookout for upcoming information about re-opening the sanctuary for worship, opportunities to connect with members and friends, and new ways to move forward as we live into the present reality.
Beloved, these times are challenging – no question about that. But here we are, called to be the Body of Christ in this hour. We have come this far by faith and it is our faith that will lead us on. Be encouraged. The Lord our God is with us and new visions are possible.
May the peace of Christ guard your heart and keep you in every way.
Grace and peace,
Prayer for the Week
Precious Lord, hold us close. Remind us of who we are and whose we are and your promise to be with us always. Be the calm in the storm and the light that guides our way. Give us bright hope for today and tomorrow, renewed faith so that we might live our days with meaning and purpose, and courage to follow your lead, most especially when we do not know where we are going. Amen.
