Pastoral Letter Regarding Coronavirus

Dear friends,

The church staff and I have been closely monitoring the developing situation with the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) here in New York City. While the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene currently believes that the risk of contracting the virus in the city is considered low, we are also aware that this projection may change. As a result, we have been actively discussing our response as a church.

Please note that our Lenten Wednesday Evening Services have been suspended until further notice. While we currently are not aware of any cases in our church and do not anticipate this changing, we nevertheless want to ensure that we are providing as safe and healthy of an environment for all of our congregants.

On Sunday mornings during the Passing of the Peace, we also encourage other means of “passing” the peace. This may be acts such as elbow bumps, peace signs, or other non-physical means of expression.

As always, I will be sure to update you as needed with any new developments. Please take good care of yourselves, following recommended practices by the CDC, and let us know if you need us in any way.

Grace and peace,
Pastor Cathy
