Education is very important at Park Avenue UMC. It is through education that we grow and mature as Christians. We aim to help children develop and become active and positive members of our church and throughout their lives. We offer a variety of programs to enrich your child’s education.

Sunday School

Sunday school begins during 11 AM worship. Children are asked to join the congregation in the sanctuary and come forward for the Children’s Message. Teachers and staff then escort them to Sunday school. Each child is placed in a grade appropriate group.

Child Care is also available during our 9 AM worship service and Choir rehearsals. Please contact Liz in the church office for more information: Liz@paumcnyc.org, 212-427-5421.

Park Avenue Methodist Day School

Founded in 1954, many families across the city are well acquainted with our secular school. When the school was established, our play-based pedagogic model was virtually the only form of early childhood education. While other educational approaches have been introduced or developed since then, we continue to hold play at our core as research shows us this is the way children learn best. PAMDS is the home of ‘Playful Inquiry’. Through constructive and meaningful play experiences and ‘Cycles of Inquiry’, children not only learn what they need to know, but also acquire the skills that they need to be successful learners and citizens beyond preschool. Park Avenue Methodist Day School serves children ages 2 through 5. For any admissions related inquiries, contact office@pamdayschool.org. For more information, visit the PAMDS’s website at pamdayschool.org.
